Busy tonight? Cancel your plans. Tonight marks the beginning of a new season of “The Ultimate Fighter” also known as TUF. Oh and there is that free FIGHT NIGHT as well. Tonight at 8pm ET on Spike TV, UFC will be putting on a free night of 8 fights which will then be followed by the coolest show to watch if you are UFC or MMA fan.
TUF puts 32 of the best up and comers in MMA and makes them fight their way into a house where they can then fight for a contract in the UFC. After a format change in the last few years, 32 fighters must show up at a gym, randomly draw a name and fight, all in one night. The first two episodes of TUF are now filled to the brim with fights with guys that have nothing to lose and A LOT to gain. think I’m talking trash? Ever heard of Rashad Evans? Forrest Griffin? Kenny Florian? Joe Stevenson? How about Michael Bisping? If not, get the hell out of here, no seriously if you haven’t, then you obviously haven’t seen a single pay per view of the UFC in about 6 years.
There in lies ANOTHER good reason to watch TUF tonight, you get to know the fighters as they grow and you get to learn about the sport for what it really is, lots of training and decent and smart fighters, not all blood and gore like the media and old ladies want you to believe. Ok ok, maybe if you saw Junie Browning from last season you might not agree with the all decent and smart but there is always an exception right? Anyway, TUF is a great show for hardcore fans of MMA and also people how are sick of sitting at their lunch tables at work or school just nodding their head when the inevitable “Did you see the UFC on the weekend” talk starts after a weekend UFC pay per view. Plus, deep down, every loves a good reality show and this show sticks 16 fighters in a house with no TV, no internets, no phones and FREE BOOZE. Yes, it is as crazy as it sounds.
This year the UFC is putting even ANOTHER twist on the show, country vs country. The US will take on the U.K tonight as Dan Henderson will coach the states and Michael Bisping will be the coach of the U.K. So not only is their a contract on the line for the winner of the show, its also about pride and patriotism in the match up. Who is the stronger country? Who has the better fighters?
Tomorrow I will be back to give my predictions of who I think is a real deal and who I think is a real asshole!

For those of you that follow MMA and the UFC you are fully aware of what has been going on between GSP and BJ Penn since their fight at UFC 94. If you aren’t a hardcore fan you may not know, so guess what? I’ll tell you! At UFC 94 in what was billed in the biggest fight in MMA history to determine the best pound for pound fighter in the world, GSP and BJ Penn faced off. What happened after the bell rung for round one was more like the most lopsided drubbing in MMA history and a fight to determine how badly you can own someone else in every facet of MMA. As if getting trounced by GSP wasn’t enough for the pudgy Hawaiian, BJ Penn then accused Georges and his corner man Phil Nurse of rubbing Vaseline on St. Pierre’s body which is highly illegal as it makes it almost impossible for a guy on the bottom to regain any type of control. After the first round a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which oversees all fights to make sure there is no funny business, noticed that GSP’s cut man (Nurse) was touching the fighters back after he had applied Vaseline with his hands to the fighters face. After noticing this the NSAC came in the ring and wiped GSP down with a towel to get any residue that might have been left on the back of Georges. Obviously Penn didn’t feel like this was thorough enough so after he quit between the 4th and 5th round of the fight, BJ went home to Hawaii to be the man again and maybe he didn’t get any props at the fast food joint he was eating at and decided to take a formal complaint up with the NSAC and try to get the bout turned into a no contest and get St. Pierre and his trainers fined and possibly suspended for what took place. He went as far to make an over the top elaborate video with catchy tunes to show how St. Pierre and Nurse cheated with quotes from other fighters saying how slippery GSP was (it would have been awesome if they all talked like Dan Severn). The video actually does a good job to sway you in the corner of BJ but if you watched the fight live, you know Georges was just the better fighter on that day and truly owned BJ, Vaseline or no Vaseline.
Well now we have a confession from GSP that he indeed DID cheat and you can see it in this video below. I will also post the Hollywood blockbuster Penn and his team put together. Lastly I would like to say that in my experience with someone crying foul is usually the harder you cry the less foul there was…..
Also, I would like to add that the NSAC has held a legal hearing and DID NOT agree with Penn and there were no charges filed against GSP or his trainers.
