I love the spinning back fist! I don't know why dudes in MMA don't use it more, it's easy to setup in a combo and you don't need to be very accurate with it to cause some damage. That one is more like a spinning back forearm to the face, but whatever works, right?

I stand by my post from back All-Star time when I said Rondo was the most underrated point guard (possibly player) in the league. Finally he is getting some attention after dropping triple-doubles in the playoffs like it's going out of style.

Hard to argue with any of those picks GOAT. LeBron and the Cavs just look like a team focused and ready to roll right in to the finals with ease. The Celtics came out super flat in the first game against the Magic, which is somewhat understandable after that marathon with the Bulls, but I think it wore them out too much to withstand the physical beat down that Dwight and Hedo will be laying on their front court each night.

As for the western conference, I think game 1 was a wake-up call for the Lakers. All the hype before the playoffs of a possible LeBron vs. Kobe final I think had them overlooking the Rockets, but not anymore. Between Kobe and Phil Jackson I'm certain we will see a much more determined team come game 2, and Kobe will be the one to take Artest sailing. I don't think Denver will have much trouble with the Mavs, but Kidd has started to come into his own over the past month or so and is playing some good ball, but I don't think Dirk will be able to get anything going against the tight D that the Nuggets can throw his way. Kenyon Martin has long since been my favorite player in the league and he is not afraid to bust some skulls with a hard foul or three, and that will discourage Disco Dirk from attacking the lane and as good as a 7' foot tall jump shooter as he is, that's not going to get it done for them.

I still see little reason to think that LeBron and Kobe won't meet in the finals, but I am looking forward to the conference finals first. Magic/Cavs and Lakers/Nuggets offer some good match-ups that should lead to some entertaining games if all goes as predicted by GOAT.

Dude, I saw that video earlier today and was just like WTF?! I've never seen that before EVER and the triangle choke is my favorite submission going. Certainly not a common position to find yourself in during an MMA match, but dude had the wherewithal to slap it on once he found himself there. It''s definitely not a move you practice defending during training. I'm not sure we will ever see it again, but it sure as hell is an impressive finish to that fight. Dude was getting owned up until that point though, his face was a mess!

Regal Ransom too eh? If Join In The Dance doesn't keep up early he might get to romp on the lead unchallenged... in the slop everyone else might not be too keen on pushing through to catch him. Like the other two picks a lot (obviously).

Overall the first round of the playoff didn't offer up too much excitement. Sure the Caps/Rangers series and the Hurricanes/Devils match ups came right down to the wire, but aside from those there wasn't much excitement. The Sharks just looked worn down, and I don't expect Anaheim to give Detroit much of a run.

The second round match ups offer up a lot more excitement, at least on paper. The sexy series is obviously the Capitals vs. Penguins featuring three of the premiere players in the league. I think the pressure of the NHL playoffs might get to the Caps' rookie goalie, if he even understands enough English to comprehend his situation.

I am most excited to watch the Canucks and Blackhawks series. I am a HUGE Toews fan and they were my rooting favorite from the beginning of the playoffs. I think the winner of this series has the potential to take out the Red Wings in the conference finals. It's damn near impossible to bet against a team with Luongo in net, and they have just looked to be a fresher team this time of year. Canucks games just seem to be played at a bit quicker pace than all the others, anyone else notice that?

Comment on To Suspend Or Not To Suspend? That Is The Question by reefer_madness

First of all Dwight Howard's elbow on his own teammate was the worst of all the plays that night, fractured sinus does not sound pleasant.

Howard should have been ejected from that game immediately after throwing that bow, clearly the referees did not see the clear intent he had. If he had been removed from game 5 there would be no need for the league to take further action, especially because it was fairly early in the game. But since he continued in the game it seems a suitable punishment that he miss game 6.

The Rondo foul blows my mind. I don't understand how that was not called a flagrant foul? He says he was making a play on the ball but I guess he thought his arm was 3 feet longer than it really was and instead of hitting the ball he got all head. The play won the Celtics the game, but if it was correctly ruled as a flagrant foul who knows what would have happened next. He clearly deserves a suspension for it, you can't just be open handing dudes in the face. Seriously when Charles Barkley is calling for a flagrant foul you know it ain't pretty.

That fight was a letdown and a half. To win the title you need to BEAT the champ, not just pussy foot around the octagon and try to survive the five rounds. At first I thought Silva was just fucking around a bit in rounds 1 and 2, but as it got in to the 3rd and 4th round I was legitimately pissed off. I don't blame Silva one bit, after all he did "win" the fight and keep the title. Leites should be dropped from UFC in my opinion for a showing like that. It is a private company that survives on entertainment value and as much as the sport has gained mainstream popularity, the average fan still does not know a hell of a lot about the details of the ground game. The typical fan does not want to see two guys rolling around on the mat, no matter how technical and skilled the fighters are, THEY WANT BLOOD! Every time dude went to his back and tried to pull guard without any sort of success should count as a take down. It was a poorly thought out strategy on Leites' part because he made no legitimate attempts to take Silva down, all he did was concede the dominant position. It was easy to tell that Silva was irritated because in the few attempts that he threw and landed it was clear he was trying to destroy his knee. Now granted he didn't get knocked out, but he disappointed everyone who watched the fight, and from the standpoint of a company based on entertainment value asking fans to fork out $50 for a pay-per-view, that is not what you want on your lineup.
