Don’t Miss The Free Fight Night and TUF Tonight
Busy tonight? Cancel your plans. Tonight marks the beginning of a new season of “The Ultimate Fighter” also known as TUF. Oh and there is that free FIGHT NIGHT as well. Tonight at 8pm ET on Spike TV, UFC will be putting on a free night of 8 fights which will then be followed by the coolest show to watch if you are UFC or MMA fan.
TUF puts 32 of the best up and comers in MMA and makes them fight their way into a house where they can then fight for a contract in the UFC. After a format change in the last few years, 32 fighters must show up at a gym, randomly draw a name and fight, all in one night. The first two episodes of TUF are now filled to the brim with fights with guys that have nothing to lose and A LOT to gain. think I’m talking trash? Ever heard of Rashad Evans? Forrest Griffin? Kenny Florian? Joe Stevenson? How about Michael Bisping? If not, get the hell out of here, no seriously if you haven’t, then you obviously haven’t seen a single pay per view of the UFC in about 6 years.
There in lies ANOTHER good reason to watch TUF tonight, you get to know the fighters as they grow and you get to learn about the sport for what it really is, lots of training and decent and smart fighters, not all blood and gore like the media and old ladies want you to believe. Ok ok, maybe if you saw Junie Browning from last season you might not agree with the all decent and smart but there is always an exception right? Anyway, TUF is a great show for hardcore fans of MMA and also people how are sick of sitting at their lunch tables at work or school just nodding their head when the inevitable “Did you see the UFC on the weekend” talk starts after a weekend UFC pay per view. Plus, deep down, every loves a good reality show and this show sticks 16 fighters in a house with no TV, no internets, no phones and FREE BOOZE. Yes, it is as crazy as it sounds.
This year the UFC is putting even ANOTHER twist on the show, country vs country. The US will take on the U.K tonight as Dan Henderson will coach the states and Michael Bisping will be the coach of the U.K. So not only is their a contract on the line for the winner of the show, its also about pride and patriotism in the match up. Who is the stronger country? Who has the better fighters?
Tomorrow I will be back to give my predictions of who I think is a real deal and who I think is a real asshole!
Peace!
