Georges St. Pierre: “I Did Cheat Against BJ”

Written on March 21st, 2009 by goatdieselone shout

For those of you that follow MMA and the UFC you are fully aware of what has been going on between GSP and BJ Penn since their fight at UFC 94.  If you aren’t a hardcore fan you may not know, so guess what?  I’ll tell you!  At UFC 94 in what was billed in the biggest fight in MMA history to determine the best pound for pound fighter in the world, GSP and BJ Penn faced off.  What happened after the bell rung for round one was more like the most lopsided drubbing in MMA history and a fight to determine how badly you can own someone else in every facet of MMA.  As if getting trounced by GSP wasn’t enough for the pudgy Hawaiian, BJ Penn then accused Georges and his corner man Phil Nurse of rubbing Vaseline on St. Pierre’s body which is highly illegal as it makes it almost impossible for a guy on the bottom to regain any type of control.  After the first round a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, which oversees all fights to make sure there is no funny business, noticed that GSP’s cut man (Nurse) was touching the fighters back after he had applied Vaseline with his hands to the fighters face.  After noticing this the NSAC came in the ring and wiped GSP down with a towel to get any residue that might have been left on the back of Georges.  Obviously Penn didn’t feel like this was thorough enough so after he quit between the 4th and 5th round of the fight, BJ went home to Hawaii to be the man again and maybe he didn’t get any props at the fast food joint he was eating at and decided to take a formal complaint up with the NSAC and try to get the bout turned into a no contest and get St. Pierre and his trainers fined and possibly suspended for what took place.  He went as far to make an over the top elaborate video with catchy tunes to show how St. Pierre and Nurse cheated with quotes from other fighters saying how slippery GSP was (it would have been awesome if they all talked like Dan Severn).  The video actually does a good job to sway you in the corner of BJ but if you watched the fight live, you know Georges was just the better fighter on that day and truly owned BJ, Vaseline or no Vaseline.

Well now we have a confession from GSP that he indeed DID cheat and you can see it in this video below.  I will also post the Hollywood blockbuster Penn and his team put together.  Lastly I would like to say that in my experience with someone crying foul is usually the harder you cry the less foul there was…..

Also, I would like to add that the NSAC has held a legal hearing and DID NOT agree with Penn and there were no charges filed against GSP or his trainers.

 UFC 94

Today marks a day I have been waiting to come for almost 6 months, George St. Pierre vs. BJ Penn.  It seems like only yesterday I was throwing back my first beer during UFC 93 and now I am already back to give you my always spot on predictions! Right now I am 4 for 9 on my predictions but don’t worry, I will go 100% tonight (wink wink nudge nudge).

As always, I will only discuss the fights that are going to be televised and give you the leg up on your boy, girl, or like me, imaginary friends, that you have bets against for the fights tonight.

Main Event: 170lbs George ” I need a new nickname” St. Pierre vs. BJ “Lil’ Buddha” Penn

Finally, a fight people can get excited for!  The #1 welterweight in the world vs. the #1 lightweight in the world.  Although this is a dream match up, I hate how it came to fruition. I will do a quick recap for those of you that may not know.  After GSP decimated, in my eyes, his biggest competition in Jon Fitch, fat little BJ waltz’s into the ring like he often does and stops the celebrations early.  He then continues to let Dana White and the rest of  the world know that he not only doesn’t respect anything except Hawaii but he also thinks 3 seconds is long enough for GSP to find his next opponent, himself.  I truly think the UFC treats their Welterweight champion poorly and this is just another example of that treatment. First you make a reality show where any dude who can beat some other nobody’s gets the chance to become the welterweight champion.  Then you let a loud mouthfrom ANOTHER weight division walk in to the Octagon and challenge your champion 3 seconds after he just went 5 rounds with a REAL contender.  If this pisses me off, imagine what it did to St. Pierre.   (more…)
